Welcome to Vagabonds of the Eastern World With the help of our sponsors, families, a VW Polo designed for the school run, 2 Danish lads and an endless vat of determination; we drove from Dublin to Ulaanbaatar – the capital of Mongolia. Thank you to everyone who helped get us and The Woman to the finish line. We crossed the Irish Sea (admittedly helped by one massive boat), Wales, England, the English Chanel, a very small bit of France, the whole way through Belgium (It’s bigger than it looks!), Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine (Where roads began to turn a bit rough), Russia (Where border guards seemed honoured by the presence of an Irishman), Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan (with one massive desert), Kyrgyzstan (Himalayan mountain passes and all that), Kazakhstan, Russia (The Altai Mountain Range is a very cold place to wake up in)…… Then we entered Mongolia and powered through rivers and the Gobi Desert, tumbled over tracks embedded with lethal obstacles until finally reaching the finish line in Ulaanbaatar with a lot less car parts and 9,400 more miles on the clock. We did this in aid of the Christina Noble Children’s Charity who runs the Blue Skies Orphanage in Ulaanbaatar. We got to visit the orphanage on arrival and received a tour from Eamon Thornton. Having seen the stark contrast between the harsh city/slums of UB and the immaculate facilities CNCF created there; we were all hugely impressed and glad to have helped keep the orphanage going. The project is financed almost solely by donations received from Mongol Rally teams each year. It is now too late to donate online, but being as we are; we can facilitate cash deals on request if you would like to support CNCF. Thanks For more information click any of the links to the left
