In Mongolia!

In Ogly in Mongolia now, small town with a big night club and plenty of pretty little ladies!

Spent the previous few days crossing borders, one of which was 35 degrees, the other was about 1 degree. Quite a different in temperatures and scenery but enjoyable nonetheless.

The Fiat is having a few slight issues, including: leaking petrol, oil, headlights have melted, and is unexplainably limited to about 20mph, but 20mph is better than zero so we're still slowly moving East towards our goal.

Found a great hotel in Aqtobe for $15 a night courtsey of the local ex-soviet nutcase. 2day we had a guided tour with a lawer in his bmw (finally some air con) turns out he's the nicest man in the world & helped sort out our imigration forms. The scenery is stunning & we've finally hit tarmac

we are in a town about 400km from kiev, hoping to make it the rest of the way tonight so we can get some drinks for Tom's last night. we have uploaded a photo album of the rally so far. we have not got much time in the club we are in atm. We are convoying with 'Gin ll fix it' (http://mongolrally09.theadventurists.com/ginll-fix-it), they are putting more regular updates on their website which can be found on the teams page. to put it in a few words, the mongol rally is brilliant, and has been better than we all expected. we arwe trying to get a hostel in Kiev tonight, where hopefully we will be putting a more detailed Blog entry up.

all going well, fiat running a little hot in 34 degree heat, problem overcome by re-routing the windscreen washer to squirt on the radiator, working well atm. Convoying with gin ll fix. Check their blog for more regular updates as we are struggling to find working internet. But expect one huge blog updating session soon.

Trip to Derbyshire

Left at

Had our first big trip out in the car, not entirely successful to be honest, but fun nevertheless!

Took a trip to Derbyshire last weekend, forgot ALL the tent poles. Through the careful utilisation of two camp beds, 5 million pegs and a fully qualified disaster manager we managed to create a fairly respectable tent which only looked slightly crap (from every angle).

Invested in a few tins of beans, but had no tin opener, luckily our tire iron moonlights as a tin opener (see pictures) and occasionally does stand up comedy.

Closely followed by getting the car stuck for 3 hours in the Derbyshire countryside and having to be rescued by a friendly farmer with a tractor.

All in all I think we’ve followed in the true spirit of the rally e.g. very little preparation resulting in a fun-filled mess.

Hello and welcome to our blog, apologies for the lack of communication up 'til this point but we've been working hard purchasing a vehicle, modifying it to the highest of standards (how we laugh!) and generally participating in rally related events.

From this point onwards we intend to keep a track on any interesting developments and keep y'all posted!!
