We are on the road! See this page for blog updates, and also team member Will's flickr page, and posts to The Meridian Collective. We are team Great Job!, hailing from San Diego, California, and participating in the Mongol Rally 2009. Our impending graduation from UCSD means we will soon leave academia to join the 'real world'. What ever shall we do with our last summer of youthful freedom? Being UCSD students, and thus deprived of adventure and social life for the past 4 to 6 years, we decided we must do something ridiculous, something so appallingly atypical the very thought of which makes us a little queasy. Then we discovered the Mongol Rally. A perfect fit. A true challenge that is sure to serve up unforgettable experiences. Best of all, its for charity! This is what the Mongol Rally is all about: "A third of the way around the earth, from Europe to Mongolia via a plethora of countries most people haven't heard of in a car that has an engine with no bigger than 1 litre. Starting from England the rally finishes in the Mongolian capital Ulaan Baatar around four weeks and a whole heap of adventure later. It's between about 8 and 10,000 miles depending on the route you choose to throw your trusty steed at. We don't believe in telling you what to do or where to go as this is supposed to be an adventure not a cosy guided driving tour, so the world is pretty much your oyster." But for team Great Job!, the adventure starts in San Diego, which makes us quite possibly the rally team with the greatest mean starting distance from Ulaan Bataar. We are disinclined to take the expensive and supremely unadventurous route of purchasing a vehicle in our homeland well ahead of time and shipping it. No no, instead, we'll purchase our Rallymobile in the UK or thereabouts and prepare it in the few days before the rally! In true Mongol Rally spirit, none of us has any experience fixing cars. Heck, You can help us directly by donating to our car fund which will buy a car to be donated to Mercy Corp Mongolia!
Thanks for checking out our website. Dont forget to donate! remember, its all for the Mongolians.
