What an Adventure

11,000 miles across 15 countries, through deserts, mountain ranges and wilderness, The Mongol Rally is an incredible adventure taking us off the beaten track in countries many people will never have heard of. We'll find ourselves hundreds of miles from civilisation, in unknown lands, and to top it all off we'll be in a 1 litre VW Polo!

Unlike most rallies, the Mongol Rally has no fixed route, no time limit, and no assistance on the way. The only fixed points are Goodwood Motor Circuit, England (the starting point), and Ulanbataar, Mongolia (the finish), what happens in between is entirely up to us!

The rally raises lots of money every year, with the teams supporting some fantastic charities and helping those with unbelievably hard lives in our destination country of Mongolia! We are supporting Christina Noble Children's Foundation (CNCF), Mercy Corps Mongolia, Water for Kanakput Project and, closer to home, Willen Hospice. We are really excited to be taking part in the 2009 rally (the seventh year of this event), and are looking forward to once in a lifetime adventure into the unknown!

Our route covers approximately 11,000 miles and will take us through UK - France - Germany - Czech Republic - Slovakia - Hungary - Romania - Bulgaria - Turkey – Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Kyrgystan – Kazakhstan - Russia and finally Mongolia where we will head to the capital Ulaanbaatar. On arrival in Mongolia our car will be sold off and all the money raised will go directly to the charity. We hope to complete the journey in about five weeks depending on the car and problems with border crossing

So this is us, Dinesh Tosar and Jay Gajjar, and along with our car we are Bharat Express 1. We are one of four teams in the Bharat Express group. You can check out our other teams by visiting www.bharatexpress.co.uk

You can find out more about us here, learn more about the charities we are supporting here and read about our sponsors here.

We'll be keeping our blog up to date with the latest news in the run up to rally launch on 19th July, and also while we're on our journey whenever we are able to.

PLEASE NOTE: EVERY PENNY OF DONATION RECEIVED WILL GO TO THESE DESERVING CAUSES. MEMBERS OF THE TEAM BHARAT EXPRESS ARE FUNDING THE ENTIRE COST OF PARTICIPATING IN THE RALLY FROM THEIR PERSONAL RESOURCES.
